Ad assets

Ad assets make your ad bigger and push other results down.

Sitelinks, callouts and structured snippets, once called ad extensions, add lines under your ad. Results that take more of the screen get looked at and clicked more (Lewandowski, 2017), and most clicks happen before anyone scrolls (Nielsen Norman Group).

01 / Sitelinks

Sitelinks

Extra links under your ad, each to its own page. 25 characters each, and Google needs at least 2.

Desktop
Up to 6, side by side on one or two lines, or stacked.
Mobile
Up to 8 in a row that people swipe through. When your ad is the top result, they show one per line, and the ad gets much taller.
For B2B SaaS
Link the pages a buyer checks before a demo: pricing, security, a comparison and the demo itself.

02 / Callouts

Callouts

Short facts that are not links. 25 characters each, and up to 10 can show.

Desktop
On one line, separated by dots.
Mobile
They wrap like a paragraph, so each one adds height.
For B2B SaaS
Use facts a buyer can check, like No contract or SOC 2 Type II. Easy to use tells them nothing.

Desktop
Up to 2 headers at a time.
Mobile
One header.

Google shows an asset only when it predicts the asset will help, so add more than you need. Try yours in the mockup generator above.

How Google mixes your lines

With no pins, one ad has 50,235 versions. Pin a few lines to take control.

Give Google 15 headlines and 4 descriptions in a responsive search ad and it can build 50,235 different ads. Pinning locks a line into one position. With nothing pinned, Google predicts which versions to show instead of testing them all. On the few thousand searches a month a B2B SaaS ad group gets, your proof and your call to action can wait a long time to show up.

Thoughtful pinning

Position 1

What they searched for

Position 2

Why you

Position 3

What to do next

Google still mixes the lines inside each position, so it keeps testing. But every version it builds reads in order: their search, your proof, the next step. That leaves 18 headline combinations to learn from, not thousands.

01

Pin a few lines, not one

Pin two to four headlines to each position. Pin just one and that position never changes. Pin none and Google may show two lines that repeat each other.

Ads with some lines pinned had the best cost per conversion, ROAS and CPC. Optmyzr, 1M+ ads

02

Fewer clicks, better buyers

Pinning lowers click through rate a little. In return, more of the people who click go on to sign up.

More pinning meant a lower CTR but a higher conversion rate and more conversions per impression. Adalysis, 5,900 accounts

03

Don't chase an Excellent rating

Google rates a pinned ad lower on Ad strength. That rating isn't part of how Google picks which ads to show. Average is fine.

Ads rated Average had the best cost per conversion, conversion rate and ROAS. Optmyzr, 1M+ ads

For B2B SaaS

Selling B2B SaaS? Skip the blank headline boxes.

A mockup shows how your ad looks. It can't tell you what makes your buyers click. Start from an ad written about your product, and launch it without being a PPC person.

On your own

You stare at 15 empty headline boxes.

You work out which headlines to pin, and where.

You guess which searches are worth paying for.

You rebuild the ad line by line in Google Ads.

With Hero Marketer

You start from a full ad about your product and reword any line you like.

Headlines come already pinned, in order: their search, your proof, the next step.

You see what people search for and what a month would cost, before you spend.

You launch the campaign from the screen where you checked the ad.

Reference

Google Ads character limits and image sizes.

FAQ

Questions before you make a mockup.

Is the mockup generator really free?

Yes. There is no sign up, no limit and nothing to install. Type your lines, check the ad on desktop and mobile, and download it as a PNG.

Do you see or keep my ad copy and images?

No. Hero Marketer’s mockup generator runs in your browser, and your images never leave it. A share link holds your text after the # sign, and browsers never send that part to a server. Images are not in the link, so whoever opens it adds their own.

Will Google show my ad exactly like this?

Not exactly. Google picks which headlines and descriptions to show for each search and lays the ad out differently by device and by where it appears. Use Show another version to check how your lines read in different orders, and keep every line within its limit.

Can I send the mockup to my CEO or a client?

Yes. Download PNG saves the preview as an image for a deck or an email. Share preview copies a link that opens this page with your text already in place, so they can click through the other versions themselves.

I sell B2B SaaS. Can Hero Marketer write and launch the ad for me?

Yes. Give Hero AI the search you want to show up for and your landing page. You get keywords with what they would cost a month, and an ad written about your product, not a template. You check it in a preview like this one, then launch the campaign in your Google Ads account. Signing up and connecting your account are free. Ad copy uses about 0.2 credits and keyword research about 0.1. Credits come in $20 packs with no monthly fee, and unused credits are refundable within 90 days of purchase.
